The Harrisburg Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. announces the 2005 recipient of the Dr. Jesse Bryan Scholarship as Mr. Eric Simpson of Harrisburg, PA. Mr. Simpson is a 2005 graduate of Harrisburg High School and the son of Ramona Simpson. Mr. Simpson plans to enroll as a Business Administration major at the Miami (FL) campus of Johnson & Wales University for the fall term. The Dr. Jesse Bryan Scholarship, a part of Harrisburg Alumni's Guide Right Program, is eligible to any graduating high school senior enrolled at either Harrisburg High School, Steelton-Highspire High School, Susquehanna high School, Central Dauphin East High School or Central Dauphin High School. Kappa Alpha Psi’s Guide Right program is aimed at bringing area middle and high school students together for an in-depth look at how good academic performance and strong community concern and relations can build solid foundations for achievement. The fraternity’s hope is that these positive influences will create determination as many young people make viable life choices. The Guide Right Scholarship was founded to provide financial assistance to deserving Harrisburg area residents for their pursuit of undergraduate educational opportunities at a two-year or four-year institution of their choice. The Harrisburg Alumni Chapter awards one $1000.00 scholarship on an annual basis. Criteria for award consideration include; demonstrated academic achievement; personal initiative and school-based extracurricular activities (including employment) and community service and civic involvement.
