On September 17th, 2005, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Harrisburg Alumni Chapter, Participed in Prostate Cancer Screenings at Pinnacle Health in Harrisburg, PA. At last count, the total number of men screened for the week of September 12th-17th stood at 171. All of the men that attended the week-long event were assessed and screened for prostate cancer (which included PSA and DRE). This is an awesome total up significantly from last year according to Pinnacle Regional Cancer Center. On Saturday, September 17th, Harrisburg Alumni Chapter made their prescence known with other men seeking screenings. From the area, approximately 50% of the men were African-American and 1-2 % Latino or Asian. This achievement on the part of the area Greek organizations earned them the Gold Impact Award From the American Cancer Society. This marks the second Gold Award that Harrisburg Alumni has been instrumental in earning. On May 21, 2005, the Harrisburg Area Kappas, Omegas and Alphas organized and participated in the "Let's Talk About It" Prostate Cancer Awareness Workshop at the Manna Cafe' in Harrisburg, PA, which also earned them the Volunteer Leadership Institute Gold Award.
